In 1993, in the Sierra Mazatec of Oaxacafounder John Richard Asburyalong with the German researcher Rainer Hubatschcame to the region mazatec with the purpose of learning about natural medicines and traditional. During your stay, you learned about the medicinal use of different plants, fungi, and rituals. What caused the greatest interest was the use of medicinal mushrooms in this region. With time and extensive study of various books on research of fungi, they discovered that in this region they occur naturally, some species of fungi with medicinal properties. This was the beginning of what would be the future of Hongomex. In 1995, we started with the production of mushrooms Oyster (pleurotus ostreatus) for the local market and food source for the community of Hongomex.
The cultivation process was amazing, which gave start to grow more species of medicinal mushrooms as a Queue turkey (Trametes Versicolor), Reishi (Ganoderma Lucidum), Shiitake (Lentinula Edodes) and Lion's Mane (Hericium erinaceus). The same year he created the first product of medicinal fungi, a mixture of dried mushrooms and crushed to prepare in the form of tea. The tea was successful, and this led to the formulation of liquid extracts alcohol-based (Tinctures) in 1997, giving start to form Hongomex. Eventually, in 2003 we implemented the capsules, which have become the most popular and practice of consuming these adaptogens.
